Kerala Opposition stages representative assembly session

Kerala Opposition today stages representative assembly session in front of the assembly. The protest was launched by the opposition as the Speaker denied permission to issue notice for an urgent resolution in the wake of the statement of the accused in the gold smuggling case that the Chief Minister had smuggled dollars.

In the representative assembly session, the opposition introduced a symbolic urgent resolution in the dollar smuggling case. P.K. Basheer MLA Was the symbolic CM. N Shamsuddin became the symbolic speaker and P.T. Thomas presented an interim motion notice. P.J. Joseph and Anoop Jacob also spoke after this. This is the first time the opposition has staged such a protest. The opposition sought the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan after the massive disclosure in the Kerala gold and dollar smuggling case, accused Swapna Suresh and Sarith PS have reportedly told the Customs department that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and a former top state government official had sent foreign currency to the United Arab Emirates. As per the latest development, in the show-cause notice to the 6 accused in the dollar smuggling case, the Customs said that Suresh and Sarith disclosed that the Kerala CM and former Assembly Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan had sent foreign currency to the UAE through the ex-UAE consulate general and one more diplomat.

Swapna and Sarith said that not only did officials at the UAE Consulate smuggle dollars, even politicians did the same. As per the notice, Sarith knew that the officials of the consulate were involved in dollar smuggling ever since he had joined the consulate. The Congress party was quick to attack the Chief Minister over the developments, and sought his resignation immediately.
