Kerala: Stalker taken life of dental student, self

In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by a boy in the Kothamangalam region of Kerala’s Ernakulam on Friday. Later, the suspect allegedly shot himself with the same firearm, sources said. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Manasa and Rakhil.

The student, P V Manasa, was a house surgeon at Indira Gandhi Dental College in Kothamangalam. The stalker, Rakhil, 32, was from Kannur, the same district as her. He had allegedly been harassing her for some time. According to the police, Manasa and Rakhil are natives of Thalssery in Kannur. The incident took place in the afternoon at the house that Manasa was sharing with her friends. He forcibly entered the house, and, in the presence of Manasa’s friends, dragged her to a room where he shot her from close range with a pistol. He then shot himself, said the police quoting the victim’s friends. Police say that the locals rushed to the house after hearing gunshots and found both Manasa and Rakhil bleeding with injuries on the face. Though they were rushed to the hospital, both of them succumbed on the way.

Manasa was doing an internship at Indira Gandhi Dental college, Kothamangalam. Police said both had been friends in the past after developing an acquaintance through social media, but had pulled apart a year back. Rakhil, however, continued to harass Manasa. Her family then complained to the police in Kannur but did not proceed with a case following an assurance from the man’s family, the police said.
