MEA Jaishankar Meets Serbian FM Nikola Selaković

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held discussions with visiting Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković in New Delhi on Sunday. Dr Jaishankar said in a tweet that they reaffirmed strong political bonds and independent stance in global politics. They also agreed to take forward long-standing cooperation, especially on the economic side.

The two ministers reiterated the intense political partnership between the two countries and the individualistic approach of the two nations towards international politics. Jaishankar discussed on ways to take the strong, traditional friendship between both the countries forward. Selakovic is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on India-Serbia relations at the Indian Council of World Affairs, at Sapru House in New Delhi on Monday. “Agreed to take forward our long-standing cooperation, especially on the economic side,” he said. Selakovic is scheduled to call on Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday before leaving for Doha. Selakovic is on a two-day visit to India. He is also scheduled to visit Rajghat. The trade ties between India and Serbia are on an upswing. The volume of bilateral trade was USD 142.7 million in 2016, which increased to USD 198.5 million in 2017, according to official data. The bilateral trade in 2018 was recorded at USD 214.8 million that comprised Indian exports of USD 202.6 million.
