CPIM leader E.P. Jayarajan stated that the ASHA workers’ strike is unnecessary. He emphasized that ASHA workers belong to the service sector and initially did not even receive an honorarium. It was the LDF government that increased their salaries and benefits, raising them to ₹7,000, he added.
“This protest was conceived in the minds of ill-intentioned individuals. It has a political motive. These women have been misled and brought in front of the Secretariat, causing them unnecessary hardship. Therefore, what they should do is end this strike as soon as possible,” said E.P. Jayarajan.
He clarified that they are not against protests but claimed that this particular strike was initiated at an unnecessary time with political intentions. “This is a protest that emerged from the minds of certain individuals with a political agenda, and we can never accept it,” he stated.
