George Town: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a warm reception upon his arrival in Guyana. President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, accompanied by over six cabinet ministers, welcomed Modi at George Town Airport.
Officials announced that Modi would be honored with Guyana’s highest civilian award, the Order of Excellence of Guyana, recognizing his efforts to strengthen bilateral ties. This marks the 19th international award received by the Prime Minister.
Earlier, the Dominican Republic also announced its highest civilian honor for Modi, which will be presented by Dominican President Sylvani Burton during the India-CARICOM summit held in George Town from November 19 to 21. The CARICOM is a coalition of Caribbean nations, and the award reflects Dominica’s gratitude for Modi’s solidarity with the region and its people.
