Non-bailable case against Sivagiri Swami who stole teak trees from temple land and cut them. The case is that Swami Sandrananda, who is the Swami of Sivagiri Math and a director, stole teak trees from the outer park and cut them down.
The tree felling took place outside the government gate of Aruvippuram temple. In connection with this, a case was registered against Swami Sandrananda under the non-bailable section. Sandrananda is the secretary of Aruvippuram Math under Shivagiri Mutt. The trees and shade of the temple sanctum, which are seen as sacred by the devotees reminiscing the Guru, were destroyed. The tree was cut and smuggled.
According to the FIR, the first accused, Swamisandrananda, along with the 2nd and 3rd accused, trespassed into the temple forest and cut down the teak trees with the aim of stealing the teak trees. 15 teak trees worth Rs 10 lakh were looted and destroyed from the temple sanctuary.Despite registering the FIR, the accused are not arrested. It is also known that Swami has gone into hiding. There is also
an allegation that the police colluded with the accused to get them bail.
On May 6, 2024, locals stopped the cutting of teak trees from the government land near Bhairaviswami’s residence. A non-bailable case was registered against the main accused, Aruvippuram Mutt Secretary Sandrananda. Sandrananda is an accused in around 15 criminal cases. There is also a demand that he should be removed from that position and expelled from the Sanyasi organization.
