New Delhi: Party Treasurer Ajay Maken has said that the bank accounts of Congress and Youth Congress have been frozen. The Income Tax Department is behind the action. Ajay Maken said that freezing the opposition’s bank accounts when elections are close is tantamount to freezing democracy.
It was learned on Thursday that banks are not cashing checks issued by them. Later on, it was found that the accounts of Youth Congress had been frozen. Ajay Maken said that the accounts of the Congress have also been frozen. The Income Tax Department has asked Congress and Youth Congress to pay Rs 210 crore. Ajay Maken said that the crowdfunding money in their accounts has been frozen. He said that democracy has come to a complete standstill in India and the action is taking place when the election date is to be announced in two weeks.
