Thrissur: Patients and their relatives staged a strike at the Thrissur General Hospital. With five out of ten machines stopped, the number of dialysis was reduced. In protest against this, the patients came to the scene with a blockade strike.
Hospital RMO Dr Noble J Thyckattle was under siege. At the same time, the strike was ended after the discussion with the authorities. The strike was called off after the assurance that four new machines would arrive.
Even for those who have two or three dialysis sessions per week, the number of them has been drastically reduced and the provision of what is given has led to the protest. Five out of ten dialysis machines in the hospital are broken. Due to this, the number of people who need dialysis has been reduced. Those who have to undergo dialysis two or three times a week have to reduce it to one. Even that cannot be given accurately. About 35 people are undergoing dialysis in the general hospital.
Those who need to undergo dialysis three times a week, when they do not get it, they naturally seek treatment in private hospitals. Dialysis in private hospitals is very difficult for economically backward people. Patients allege that behind this is a move to help dialysis centers in the private sector.
