The smuggling gang was ready to destroy the Swapna and the family. Swapna’s daughter had told a close friend about this. Swapna’s daughter had phoned a close friend in Thiruvananthapuram to inform them that their lives were in danger. Swapna, her family and Sandeep Nair were on their way to Bangalore when an unidentified vehicle following them could not be traced. They were followed by a vehicle with the Mattancherry registration number. But the vehicle number was later found to be fake.
It is learned that the vehicle was carrying a gang of goons from Kochi who were escorting road money smuggling in Kerala. Swapna had decided to surrender in court. That is why I left for Kochi. But Sandeep and Swapna were deterred from doing so. Sandeep informed the gold smuggling racket that his dream was about to surrender. He was then directed to file an anticipatory bail application in the high court and delay his surrender.
With this, it was decided to move to Bangalore. Before leaving Kochi, it was Sandeep who recorded the voice of the Swapna on his mobile phone in Tripunithura and handed it over to the occupants of an unknown vehicle. The friend was in the custody of IB officers when Swapna’s daughter called her friend. The cyber cell could not find the exact location as the daughter of the dreamer was calling from a satellite phone. The friend then told Swapna’s daughter to turn on the phone using her daughter’s SIM card. This is how the NIA found their location in Bangalore.
