To Counter Hezbollah’s Rocket Attack, Israel Deploys Iron Dome Missile Defense System

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon is moving towards a full-scale war. 492 people were killed in the attack by Israel on Monday. Since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, so many people have died in an attack. More than a thousand people were injured. With this, Israel is moving towards the goal of retaliating with all its might to destroy Hezbollah. The new update coming out now is that Israel is deploying the Iron Dome missile defense system to stop Hezbollah’s rocket attacks. That means Hezbollah is launching rocket attacks against northern Israel in support of Hamas. Hizbollah’s attack on Israel was intensified after last week’s Pager and Wakidoki mass explosions in Lebanon, which is currently being avoided by Hizbullah’s Iron Dome defense system. This was followed by a strong air attack by Israel. Meanwhile, Israel’s defense system, Iron Dome, is once again in the news.

The system first came into the news last year when Hamas rockets rained down on Israel, breaching the world’s best air defense system, the Iron Dome system. The Iron Dome is back in action after Hezbollah’s rocket attack. Hezbollah’s biggest attack method is through rockets. Iron Dome directs air defenses by defeating airstrikes.

What is the Iron Dome system?

The Iron Dome system is a ground-to-air, short-range air defense system deployed in various parts of Israel to counter rocket attacks, mortars, artillery shells, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Many Israelis were killed in the 2006 attack on Lebanon. This attack prompted Israel to build its own air defense system. The Iron Dome system has been protecting Israel since 2011.

Iron Dome manages to target enemy missiles and rockets in airspace, calculate their trajectory, speed and target in seconds and destroy them in mid-air.

This system provides security within a radius of 70 km. This system has three components that work as a unit. A unit will have a radar to detect air weapons deployed by the enemy, a weapon and combat control system, and a missile launcher that includes 20 Tamir missiles.

How does the Iron Dome system work?

When a rocket is fired at Israel, the radar will detect it and transmit the information to the arms control system. The unit then calculates the rocket’s speed, target and trajectory. If the rocket reaches populated areas, the launcher automatically fires the Tamir missile and the rocket is destroyed in the air.

A single battery has three or four launchers. Israel has ten such batteries. Batteries can be moved to other locations.

The makers of the Iron Dome system are Rafale Advanced Defense Systems, a government-run arms company. Its headquarters is in Haifa, Israel. The company claims a 90 percent success rate for the Iron Dome system. In 2016, the US had provided $5 billion in funding for the development of the Iron Dome system. This system is known as the greatest strength of Israel’s defense. Israel also has missile defense systems called Arrow and David’s Sling. Someone is working to destroy ballistic missiles. David’s Sling is a medium-range rocket and missile defense system. As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalates in Lebanon, the United States sends additional troops to the Middle East. The US is gearing up to increase its military presence in the Middle East. removal Lebanon has been going through a series of attacks following the pager and walkie-talkie blasts.

Meanwhile, the United States has announced that it will send more troops to the Middle East. 40,000 US troops are currently deployed in the region. An aircraft carrier has also been dispatched. The action of the United States comes amid concerns that the Israeli army may soon announce an attack on Lebanon.

Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder has yet to share any information on how many more U.S. troops will be sent to the Middle East. Also, it has not been revealed what responsibility will be given to the American troops in the Middle East. Currently, 40,000 US troops are deployed in the Middle East.

The US aircraft carrier USS Truman, two destroyers (battleship) and a cruiser left the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia on Monday for the Middle East, Reuters reported.

Another US aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, is currently on patrol in the Gulf of Oman. The US is expected to be able to deploy two aircraft carriers simultaneously in any emergency.

Major General Pat Ryder said in a statement that military forces are being increased in the region in response to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. He has not released any other information for security reasons at this time. A US official recently said that he is ready to help Israel in any emergency.

President Joe Biden is determined to do whatever it takes to avoid war. Meanwhile, the U.S. has asked U.S. citizens in Beirut to leave the country as the conflict threatens to escalate into full-scale war.
