30 Pakistan soldiers were killed in a shootout by Baloch freedom fighters after they hijacked a train in Pakistan. 182 passengers were taken hostage. 16 of the Baloch freedom fighters were killed. After fierce clashes, the Pakistani soldiers withdrew. The Baloch threatened to kill the passengers if they resorted to military action.
The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) hijacked the Jaffar Express train from Quetta to Peshawar. There were 450 passengers on board. The passengers, including women, children and Balochistan nationals, were released, according to a statement issued by the BLF.
The train was hijacked by armed men near the tunnel. The train is reportedly stuck near the tunnel in a mountainous area. Senior officials have gone to Bolan to assess the situation. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said in a statement that it had completely repelled the attack by the Pakistani army. The train was hijacked the previous day. Six security personnel were killed in the incident.
