Venkaiah Naidu gets emotional, slams Opposition for continuous ruckus in Rajya Sabha

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday expressed concerns over the Opposition leaders’ behaviour in the House Yesterday. As the House met to transact business, the Chairman got emotional as he spoke about yesterday’s ruckus. “All sacredness of this House was destroyed yesterday when some members sat on the tables and some climbed on the tables,” he said.

Naidu, in his observations on Tuesday’s events, claimed that he had spent a sleepless night as he “struggled to find the provocation or reason for forcing this august House to hit such a low”. Naidu will take action against Opposition MPs who created ruckus in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of the House Piyush Goyal, and other BJP MPs met Naidu over the same on Wednesday morning. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Home Minister Amit Shah. The government is exploring ways to reprimand the Opposition MPs who created a ruckus in the Parliament by standing on the benches. Earlier on Tuesday, ugly scenes were witnessed in Rajya Sabha as Opposition MPs climbed on the officials’ table, waved black cloth and threw files when the House began a discussion on farmers’ protest against new reform laws. Several MPs stood on the table where the parliamentary staff sits right below the chair, while others crowded around it shouting anti-government slogans.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine dine on Wednesday, two days before the scheduled conclusion of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Parliament was adjourned after the Opposition MPs created a ruckus.
