Young man arrested relating Sajna’s case; The government will provide protection to sell biryani

The Department of Social Justice has provided protection to transgender Sajna Shaji, who lives by the roadside business. Sajna, who was selling biryani by the roadside in Tripunithura, was interrupted and abused by some. Thripunithura police arrested a person on Sajana’s complaint. Minister KK Shailaja and others intervened after the complaint came to their notice. District Social Justice Officer KJ John Joshi said financial assistance would be provided to set up the sales outlet through the Women Development Corporation.

Gireesh (48) was arrested by the Tripunithura police in the case. The biryani trade was the livelihood of Sajna and her team following the lockdown. Gireesh constantly scolded Sajna who came to the shop and obstructed the trade.

Sajna then cried and shared the news on social media. Health Minister KK Shailaja immediately contacted them on the phone. Minister Sajna was assured of the necessary protection and financial assistance and asked the Tripunithura police to take action against the culprits. M Swaraj MLA also assured them of the necessary protection. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at Sajna Hill Palace station.
