2G Spectrum Scam Case, Ex-Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK Leader Kanimozhi Hit Back,High Court Accepts CBI Petition

Delhi: Former telecom minister A Raja and DMK leader Kanimozhi hit back in 2G spectrum scam case. The Delhi High Court on Friday accepted the CBI’s appeal challenging the trial court’s acquittal of the duo. In the petition, the CBI is also demanding an investigation against the UPA-era government officials who are accused in the case.

In December 2017, the special court acquitted all the accused. The court pointed out that the CBI has not been able to provide any evidence of corruption for seven years. The CBI approached the High Court in 2018 challenging the order of the special court. Through the petition, the CBI states that there is clear illegality in the judgment of the trial court which acquitted all the accused in the case.

Apart from A Raja and Kanimozhi, former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja’s former private secretary RK Chandolia, Unitech Limited Managing Director Sanjay Chandra and three top officials of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (RADAG) Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair were earlier acquitted by the court.
