Abhimanyu murder case, the prosecution handed over the copy of the missing crucial documents to the trial court

Kochi ∙ The prosecution handed over the copy of the lost crucial documents in the murder case of A. Abhimanyu, who was a student of Maharaja’s College and SFI leader, to the trial court today. Certified copies of 11 missing documents were submitted to the court. The case will be heard again on 25th of this month.

Although the defendant objected to the production of the redacted documents, the court did not allow it. The court said that submission of copies of documents cannot be objected to and if there is any difference from the documents received earlier, the same can be raised.

On June 1, 2018, Abhimanyu, a resident of Idukki Vattawada, was killed in the campus. The accused in the case are Campus Front-Popular Front activists. Important documents were lost from the trial court when the trial proceedings in the Abhimanyu stabbing case were about to begin. Abhimanyu’s family and CPM have demanded that there is a mystery in the loss of documents and that an investigation should be done.

The court stated that the documents in the case were lost in 2019. This came to our attention last September. Then the High Court had directed to reconstruct the documents. An investigation is underway into the missing documents. The court also stated that the trial proceedings will not be delayed due to this.
