New Delhi: Congress is in crisis with candidates and party members defecting and resigning. Former MLAs Neeraj Basoya and Naseeb Singh resigned from the party to protest the alliance with AAP. There are indications that the leaders will join the BJP.
Both are close followers of Arvinder Singh Lovely, who resigned as party president. It is also reported that the resignation was in protest against the injustice done to Lovely by the party.
Naseeb Singh was AICC secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh. Both had the duty of observing the Lok Sabha elections. Naseeb Singh is in charge of North West Delhi and Neeraj Baso is in charge of West Delhi constituency.
A section of protest continues against candidates like Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj. A section of leaders want the high command to intervene and solve the problem as soon as possible. The constant criticism of the leaders for forming an alliance with AAP also raises the concern that the strength of the India alliance will be affected. The Aam Aadmi Party has taken the position that the resignation of the leaders is an internal matter of the Congress.
