The Karnataka government has introduced a controversial amendment for Muslim reservation in construction contracts. A 4% reservation will be implemented in government construction contracts up to ₹2 crore. Previously, SC and ST communities had reservations in such contracts, and now a similar provision will be extended to the Muslim community through this amendment.
The state cabinet approved this amendment in its meeting yesterday. The BJP has criticized the move, accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of using appeasement politics to divide and rule. BJP state president Vijayendra called it an anti-Hindu stance and claimed that Siddaramaiah’s decision is unconstitutional.
