Assembly elections, BJP releases candidate list

Delhi: The BJP has released list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. The elections are scheduled to be held in February. The term of the Delhi Assembly ends on February 15. Ahead of this, the BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma from the BJP to contest against Arvind Kejriwal in the assembly elections and senior BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri to contest against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.

At the same time, former ministers Raj Kumar Anand and Kailash Gahlot, who left AAP and joined BJP, will also contest as BJP candidates this time. Kejriwal is an MLA who has been continuously in the New Delhi seat since 2013. This time, the BJP’s Gandhi Nagar MLA Anil Bajpayee has been dropped and former Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely has been given a chance. Arvinder Singh Lovely, who was a minister during the Sheila Dikshit government from 2003 to 2013, joined the BJP last year.

Former Delhi minister and Congress leader Rajkumar Chauhan will contest from Mangolpuri. Another former Congress MLA, Tarvinder Singh Marwa, will contest from Jangpura against Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Sisodia.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party had earlier announced candidates for all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. The Congress has so far announced candidates for 47 seats.
