Polling has begun in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and the Chelakkara Legislative Assembly constituency for the by-elections. An excellent voter turnout has been recorded in the first hour, with long lines of voters in front of the polling booths.
Voting will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM. Although there were some minor technical issues with the voting machines at a few booths initially, the problems were resolved, and the voting process is proceeding smoothly.
Chelakkara has 213,103 voters, and Wayanad has a total of 1,471,742 voters. There are no candidates from LDF, UDF, or BJP contesting in Wayanad. The by-election in Palakkad will take place on the 20th. The Election Commission has confirmed that all preparations for the by-elections in Chelakkara and Wayanad are complete. Voters can cast their votes from 7 AM to 6 PM. This time, the election is being held at disability-friendly and green booths.
There are six candidates contesting in Chelakkara and sixteen candidates in Wayanad. Chelakkara has a total of 213,103 voters across 180 polling booths, including three auxiliary booths. The constituency has 14 problem-prone booths. Wayanad has a total of 1,471,742 voters, and there are 1,354 polling stations, including 30 auxiliary booths. Two booths in the district are included in the high-security list, and 11 polling booths are under special security measures.
