COVID cases have crossed 60 lakh in the country. In the last 24 hours, 82,170 people were diagnosed with the disease, bringing the total number of cases to 60,74,703. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 5,01,6521 people have recovered from the disease. There are currently 9,62,640 active COVID cases in the country.
This is the lowest number of cases in the last six days. Indications are that this is due to the low number of COVID tests in the past day. COVID routinely inspects about one million people a day. But only seven lakh samples were tested last day. This is considered to be the reason for the decrease in positive cases. More than half of the COVID cases reported so far in the country are from the four states alone.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and populated states, 52% of the total cases reported from. Meanwhile, the highest number of COVID cases were reported in the state yesterday. 7445 people were diagnosed with the disease last day alone. More than 1.75 lakh people have been diagnosed with the disease in Kerala so far. About one lakh cases have been reported in the last one month. Kerala ranks in the top five in the number of patients per day.
It is reassuring for the country that despite the rising number of cases, it is still at the forefront of the cure rate. The cure rate in the country is 82.6%. Meanwhile, more than a thousand deaths have been reported in the country for the 27th day in a row. On the last day, 1,039 deaths have been confirmed. This brings the total death toll to 95,542.
