Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th President of the United States, defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Trump secured 277 electoral votes, surpassing Harris, who received 226 electoral votes. The Republican Party also gained a majority in the Senate, with J.D. Vance set to serve as Vice President.
This victory marks a historic moment, as 78-year-old Donald Trump becomes the second president in U.S. history to win a second, non-consecutive term following a previous defeat. The only other president to achieve this was Grover Cleveland.
Trump is reportedly returning to Florida to address his supporters. A rally is expected to take place in West Palm Beach, where Trump will speak to his base. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris will not be addressing her supporters today but is expected to deliver remarks on Thursday.
