During the Kovid period, biryani was widely sold in roadside vehicles. The biryani sale takes place on the road between Ramanattukara and Vadakara. The food safety department in Kozhikode urban area collected biryani samples and tested them and found that they contained dangerous levels of E. coli.
The biryani was tested at the Kozhikode Regional Analytical Laboratory of the Food Safety Department. E. coli bacteria were detected in one of the samples from 12 sites. Kozhikode food safety officer said that the discovery of E. coli bacteria in the biryani was a shocking incident.
E. coli bacteria enter the biryani prepared under unhygienic conditions. Severe diarrhea and vomiting can occur if E. coli bacteria found in human feces enter. Experts say it can lead to death. The health department has launched an investigation into the incident.
