An encounter between militants and security forces started once again on Wednesday morning in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have been reported to be hiding some militants in the area. During this time, the security forces have killed two terrorists. This is the third encounter in Shopian in the last five days.

An ongoing encounter at Sugu village in Shopian district is believed to have hidden three terrorists inside a house. The joint operation of Army and CRPF started around 1:30 pm on Wednesday night when the security forces came to know about the hideout of the terrorists in the area.

The district had separate encounters on Sunday and Monday for two consecutive days in which nine terrorists were killed. On Sunday, five terrorists were killed, while on Monday, four terrorists were killed by the army. In the last two weeks, the army has carried out nine major operations, killing 22 terrorists. This information was given by Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh after the encounter for the second consecutive day in Shopian district.

DGP, Dilbag Singh had said about the encounter that nine major operations have been carried out in the last two weeks. Of these, 22 terrorists, including six top commanders, were killed.
