Former Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Charged with Attempt to Murder

Victims of police torture and lynching can now file a case against the Chief Minister. The Nagarampalem police in Guntur district on Friday registered a case of “attempted murder” against former Andhra chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and four others under the country’s new law.

Chief Ministers will now be held responsible for killing, beating, imprisoning common people in false cases and beating in custody using the police while in power. It is reported that a case will be filed against the Minister of the Department as per the new criminal law for all the malfeasance and injustice committed by the police officer due to the wrong instruction of the Department Minister.

Following a complaint by Andhra Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju, then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was charged with attempted murder. It is certain that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has a wealth of thousands of crores, will now be in jail in the attempted murder case. Also, following a complaint by Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju, a case has been registered against former Director General of Police (Intelligence) PSR Anjaneulu, former Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) and Dr G Prabhavathi. Charges of attempt to murder, custodial torture and criminal conspiracy have been filed against former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Now let’s see what is the reason for the case and what is the matter of going to jail for the former CM. The same things are happening in the custody of many police stations in Kerala. The only change is Andhra in place of Kerala and Jagan Mohan Reddy in place of Chief Minister

Complainant Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju was arrested when Jagan was Chief Minister. The police took him into custody and sat on his chest, constricted his breathing and stopped his heart. Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju caught breath. K Raghurama is also a person who suffered a heart attack once. All the efforts of the police were to kill Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who once had a heart attack, by arresting his heart and faking it as a heart attack.

He said that during the detention, he was subjected to physical abuse including beating and tried to suffocate him by sitting on his chest and squeezing his heart. Following the instructions of the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MLA was not allowed to take medicine for his heart disease. AP CID officials arrested him in Hyderabad in May 2021. Instead of getting an arrest warrant, the CID officials shifted the MLA to Guntur.

He mentioned that CID Officer PV Sunil Kumar, PSR Anjaneyulu and few other police officers beat him with rubber belt and lathis. He mentioned that the police officers tried to kill him, police took away his mobile phone and tortured him until he revealed the password of the mobile phones.

Antrik was the head of the Home Department when the brutal torture took place. That is why the Chief Minister controlled the police. The then Chief Minister cannot escape from the responsibility. Authorities have also registered a case under IPC Sections 120B, 166, 167, 197, 307, 326, 465, 506 R/W 34.

The lesson of this case is that according to the new criminal law in India, the Chief Minister can be held responsible for assaults, false cases, torture and lock-up torture by the police under the Chief Minister. Naturally, when the control of the police is lost when they step down, all the victims of such torture and injustice can file a case against the chief minister and top officials who controlled the police and put them in jail.
