Cloudburst Strands Around 200 People on Kedarnath Pilgrimage Route

Around 200 Kedarnath pilgrims were stranded on the Kedarnath-Sonprayag-Gauri Kund route as the Mandakini river overflowed its banks. As a precautionary measure, the authorities have evacuated markets and hotels in the disaster-affected areas.

It is reported that the Bhim Bali Path, which is used by Kedarnath pilgrims on foot, is impassable. Around 200 people are trapped here. Efforts to evacuate them are progressing. The Kedarnath pilgrimage has been temporarily suspended in view of the flood situation.

Two dead in Shimla’s Rampur due to cloudburst floods. Official information is that around 36 people are missing. Unofficial reports suggest the number of missing could be much higher. 17 women and 19 men are missing.

A cloudburst also occurred near the hydroelectric plant in Samaj Khad. The disaster management team returned to the spot. The road system to the area was disrupted. The rescue team is trying to reach on foot. A cloudburst was also reported in Mandi, 125 km from Shimla.

Holiday announced for educational institutions in Padhar division. Two people were killed in a cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Tehri Garhwal. Three people are missing.
