The NIA team is still questioning the former principal secretary to the chief minister M Sivasankar in the gold smuggling case. The group ranges from senior NIA officials to prosecutors. He was questioned for nine and a half hours on Monday. After questioning, M Shivashankar left the NIA office to visit his lawyer S Rajeev. However, the lawyer who spoke to the media after Shivshankar’s return completely ruled out the possibility of arrest.

The interrogation was led by NBA Southern Regional Head KB Vandana. Earlier, the NIA had questioned him for five hours in Thiruvananthapuram. It is learned that the NIA had prepared evidence during interrogation that it had made more phone calls to the accused on the days when the diplomatic luggage was seized. However, Shivshankar said that he called the customs from the number to which the dream was connected. The NIA team also found that on the day the gold arrived, he had spoken to the accused from another number. It is learned that Shivshankar was not able to give a clear answer on Monday’s question on the matter.
