The NIA special court has rejected the bail plea of Swapna Suresh, the second accused in the gold smuggling case. Swapna was denied bail on the basis of the case diary and evidence presented by the NIA team. The court also observed that the gold smuggling case involved terrorism.
The court observed that there was prima facie evidence that Swapna Suresh was involved in the Swapna gold smuggling. There is also evidence that the dream interfered with the release of diplomatic luggage. The court held that it was prima facie clear that the crime had been committed under the UAPA.
Swapna’s argument was that the UAPA would not exist in the case and would only be a financial crime. Following this, the court asked the NIA team to produce the case diary. The court rejected Swapna’s bail application after examining the case diary.
