COVID contact is increasing in Malappuram district. Of the 170 cases confirmed in the district on Sunday, 147 were due to contact. The source of 25 of them is not clear. The fact that the clusters are in different parts of the district raises concerns. 22 cases were confirmed in Malappuram and surrounding areas, 18 in the Parappanangadi area, 16 in the Kondotty Kottapuram area, and 11 in the Kottakal area. The highest number of cases were reported in Mambat, Thiruvalli, and Pulamantol.
If in the past more cases were reported in any municipality, panchayat, or taluk, now the results indicate that clusters have formed in different parts of the district. The health department has concluded that more people are likely to be diagnosed with the disease in the coming days in the district.
In anticipation of this, efforts are being made to set up more hospitals. Perinthalmanna MES The 120-bed and 13-person intensive care unit at Arts College will be operational within two days. EMS The nursing hostel has been converted into a 100-bed Kovid hospital. The Nilambur IGMR hostel will also be converted to this type.
Meanwhile, wards 16 and 17 of Niramaruthur panchayath in the district and the entire Kottakal municipality have been declared as hot spots. In Kondotty taluk, all the panchayats except Kondotty municipality, Pallikkal, and Pulikkal panchayats have been excluded from the containment zone.
