The Uttar Pradesh government itself has demanded a CBI probe under the auspices of the Supreme Court. The UP government had said in an affidavit yesterday that the girl’s family has been assured of three tiers of security. The CBI has taken up the case. The CBI lawyer will also appear in court today. Last time, the Chief Justice had said that the girl’s family could be assured of the services of a senior lawyer if needed. The decision on this may be made today.

The CBI is required to submit a status report to the UP government every two weeks. The best security has been ensured for the girl’s family. The government said in an affidavit that CCTV cameras had been set up around the girl’s house and surroundings in addition to 15 members of the armed police. The CBI had yesterday recorded the statement of the family members in the case.
