The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a lie detector test on a woman gang-raped in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, it was reported that the girl was not a victim of torture. Following this, the SIT was ordered to conduct a lie detector test as per the preliminary investigation report.
The lie detector order comes amid controversy over allegations that the girl’s family was detained without allowing the police to speak to the media and lawyers. Congress opined that the girl’s family members should not be harassed anymore. Priyanka Gandhi has said that the strike will not end with the suspension of officials.
But the Congress has come out against the government. Meanwhile, Bhim Army leader Chandrasekhar Azad also announced that he would visit the girl’s village. Five police officers, including the superintendent, have been suspended following a finding of negligence in handling the case.
