Tribal Welfare and Development Minister B Nagendra has resigned in the Karnataka Cabinet following the Vatmiki Corporation scam case. B Nagendra handed over the resignation letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The BJP protested outside the assembly on Thursday.
The case is that 187 crore rupees under the corporation formed for tribal development was diverted to various accounts. Chandrasekhar, superintendent of accounts of the corporation, was found dead on May 26.
The officer had also written a suicide note saying that the minister also knew about the altercation. The corporation’s MD JG Padmanabha was arrested by the police last day in the case. This is followed by the minister’s resignation.
