Intensive search operations by Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir

Two Pakistani terrorists were shot dead in an encounter along the Line of Control, a defence spokesperson in Jammu and Kashmir said. Two Indian soldiers were killed in action, the spokesperson said. This was the second encounter along the Line of Control or LoC in as many days.

One security person from Kerala was killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir on Thursday. Subedar Naik M Sreejith, a native of Kozhikode, is the deceased. Sreejith and a Telangana native soldier, both from Madras Regiment, were killed in the attack at Sunderbani in Rajouri, while the army was working on plugging an infiltration bid. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have killed five militants in the past 24 hours, the police confirmed in an official post. Counter-terror operations in the region are still on, the cops said, as an encounter between the joint security personnel and the militants is currently underway at Puchal in the Pulwama district of the Union territory. At least two militants have so far been killed in the ongoing operation, said police officials familiar with the development. Two other militants are also believed to be trapped. In the other encounter yesterday, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, Mehrazuddin Halwai, who was known to use social media to find recruits, was shot dead by the security forces.

The encounters and intensive search operations by Indian soldiers come less than a month after a drone attack at an Indian Air Force base in Jammu region by Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
