Interim ban on the government appointing Purnachandra as the Director of College Education

The Chennai High Court has ordered an interim injunction against the government for appointing Poornachandran as the director of a college education. Sarumathy, who was the Director of Education of Tamil Nadu College, retired on May 31, 2019. After that, the Tamil Nadu government appointed a full moon to fill the vacancy on August 14. In that petition, the person who is the director of college education must have prepared a list of those eligible for the position three months before retiring. He, however, alleged that the list was prepared too late to appoint Poornachandran to the post.

The petitioner also sought the quashing of the order appointing him as the Director of College Education, who is older than Poorna Chandran. He ordered an interim injunction against the government. Further, the judge directed the government to file the documents related to the appointment of Poornachandran and directed the Secretary of Higher Education, the Directorate of College Education and Poornachandran to respond to the petition by September 22.
