Jaundice Outbreak Worsens in Perambra, Malappuram; 200 Diagnosed So Far

Kozhikode: Jaundice is spreading in Perambra of Kozhikode. About 200 people have been diagnosed with the disease in Perampra Changaroth Panchayat. Most of the infected are students. The disease is spreading among the students of Paleri North HSS. Officials informed that there is no presence of pathogens in the well and drinking water of the school.

Water test showed no presence of bacteria. Officials said that the source of the disease is not clear. The main cause of jaundice is viral hepatitis spread through contaminated water. Infections like typhoid and malaria can also cause jaundice. Last day, a female student who was being treated at a private hospital died of jaundice in Kozhikode’s Kuttyadi. Nuha Fatima (14), a native of Kuttyadi Kadekachal, died. He was an 8th standard student of Government Higher Secondary School, Kuttyadi.
