Mumbai: Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is spreading in Pune. The number of people who have come to the hospital with symptoms has reached 140. The tests conducted at the Pune Virology Lab have confirmed 73 people with the disease. The test results of the rest are yet to come. Of the confirmed cases, 52 are below the age of 30.
27 people have been admitted to ventilators due to the severity of the disease. 32 people are in the intensive care unit. The initial diagnosis is that the disease was spread through water. The health department has also advised that chicken should be eaten only after cooking it thoroughly.
The Maharashtra government has also instructed to use only heated drinking water. A special government team is conducting awareness and testing in the area to prevent the disease from spreading again.
