PM Narendra Modi Launches Health Care Initiative for Citizens Aged 70 and Above

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a health care scheme under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) aimed at providing health coverage for all individuals aged 70 and above.

The announcement of the new health initiatives took place at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Delhi, where PM Modi also inaugurated various health programs worth ₹12,850 crore.

During the event, the Prime Minister handed out Ayushman Varadana cards to eligible beneficiaries, with Health Minister JP Nadda and other officials in attendance.

The expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), which offers comprehensive health insurance to senior citizens over the age of 70, received Cabinet approval on September 11.

This initiative is expected to benefit approximately 6 crore elderly citizens across 4.5 crore families. Notably, the scheme provides free health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family, regardless of annual income.
