Karipur Crash More Covid results of rescue workers out; Most people are negative

The test results of more people who took part in the rescue operation during the Karipur plane crash have started coming out. Of the 877 available, only 53 were COVID positive. 824 were negative. A total of 1017 results are yet to come. Those diagnosed with the disease include firefighters, police, and locals.

It is a matter of concern to the Malappuram district that the parasites have not spread the disease to an alarming extent. The Air India flight from Dubai crashed on August 7 at 7.45 pm while landing at Karipur. 19 people lost their lives in the accident. The security personnel at the airport as well as the people of Kondotty were actively involved in the rescue operation. COVID did not panic and the locals rescued the injured and rushed them to the hospitals in their own vehicles.

The intervention of the locals in Kondotty has reduced the scale of the plane crash and the death toll. Hundreds of locals took part in the rescue operation, despite COVID fears. Their test results are coming now. Of the 322 people confirmed by COVID on Wednesday, 302 were infected through contact.

Kottakkal and Kondotty municipalities and Pallikkal and Pulikkal panchayats are completely in the constituency zone. Many wards in Chaliyar, Othukkungal, Moothedam, Pothukallu, Vazhikkadavu, Areekode, and Niramaruthur panchayats are under control. The highest number of cases were reported in Etericode, Edappal, Vandoor, Thiruvalli, Valavannur, Amarambalam, Malappuram, Kottakkal, Manjeri, Kondotty, Parappanangadi, and Peruvallur yesterday.
