New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal granted interim bail in liquor scam case. Bail was granted by the Supreme Court. The verdict was given by a two-judge bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna. The interim bail has been granted till the wider bench decides the questions related to the arrest under PMLA.

Justice Sanjeev Khanna stated in the judgment that he was the Chief Minister of Delhi and had been imprisoned for so long. Since he is in custody in a CBI case, his release from jail will be based on the High Court verdict in that case. The High Court will hear the case against Kejriwal on July 17.

Earlier on May 10, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal. Bail was granted till June 1. The Supreme Court then granted bail to Kejriwal with strict conditions such as not performing the official duties of the Chief Minister and not signing the files.

ED arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in the Delhi liquor case. He was initially in ED custody and was later released to judicial custody by the trial court. CBI had also arrested Kejriwal in the case.
