Malappuram: A young man was admitted to Manjeri Medical College with symptoms of monkeypox. His saliva sample was sent to Kozhikode Medical College Virology Lab. The young man with symptoms continues to be under observation. Yesterday, the young man who arrived from abroad was admitted to the hospital with symptoms. After monkey pox was confirmed for the first time in the country, this is the first time in Kerala that a person with symptoms of the disease has been put under observation.
A 38-year-old native of Edavanna, who returned from Dubai a week ago, is under surveillance. The dermatology department of the hospital sought treatment at the OP yesterday morning. He was put under observation after fever and lumps similar to chicken pox were seen on the skin. The authorities informed that the precaution is based on the suspicion of Mpox and they are waiting for the test results and there is no need to worry at present.
