Navjot Sidhu invites CM Amarinder Singh for Installation Ceremony on July 23

Navjot Singh Sidhu has sent an invitation signed by around 65 MLAs to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh. Sidhu has also invited AICC in-charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat to the programme. Days after AICC President Sonia Gandhi appointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, the newly-appointed state party chief is all set to take charge on 23 July.

Apart from Sidhu, Gandhi has also appointed four working presidents — Sangat Singh Gilzian, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goel and Kuljit Singh Nagra. According to reports, Sidhu and four other working presidents of the Congress party have sent a special invite to Singh to join the installation ceremony on Friday. The invitation comes as a first attempt from Sidhu to reach out to Captain Amarinder Singh. The Congress on July 18 appointed Sidhu as new president of the party’s Punjab unit. Sidhu replaced Sunil Jakhar who had been Punjab Pradesh Congress chief since 2017. On Tuesday, the media advisor of the Punjab Chief Minister said that Singh will not meet Sidhu till he publicly apologises for his derogatory comments against him

“Reports of Navjot Singh Sidhu seeking time to meet Punjab CM Amarinder Singh are totally false. No time has been sought. No change in stance — CM won’t meet Sidhu till he publicly apologises for his personally derogatory social media attacks against him,” Raveen Thukral, the media advisor to the CM said on Twitter.
