PM Narendra Modi addresses nation on NEP 2020 first anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the nation to mark the first anniversary of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This is the first education policy of the 21st century and replaces the thirty-four year old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986.

PM Modi would launch multiple key initiatives in the anniversary event. For the first time, Indian Sign Language has been given the status of a language subject. 14 engineering colleges in 8 states are going to start engineering studies in 5 Indian languages- Hindi-Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Bangla. A tool has also been developed for translation of engineering course into 11 Indian languages. National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and National Education Technology Forum (NETF), which are among the ambitious programs of the NEP 2020, would be launched. A website dedicated to Artificial Intelligence would also be launched in the event. Among other initiatives is Academic Bank of Credit that will provide multiple entry and exit options for students in Higher education; 1st Year Engineering Programmes in Regional Languages and Guidelines for Internationalization of Higher Education.

On the first anniversary occasion of the NEP 2020, PM Modi said, The generation that will reap benefits of NEP will lead our nation. After launching a number of initiatives in the education sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said these programmes will have a big role in future.
