The failed candidate can check the EVM. 40,000 per unit plus GST to be tied up

New Delhi: After the announcement of the results of the Lok Sabha elections, those who came second and third among the losers can check the micro controller unit of the electronic voting machine. 40,000 and 18 percent GST must be shelled out for testing an EVM unit. An EVM unit consists of control unit, ballot unit and VV pat. If the coup is proved, the money will be returned.

In this way it can be checked whether any kind of change or tampering has taken place in the microcontroller unit. Candidates can ask for verification within seven days. The Election Commission has released guidelines for the inspection. The Election Commission released the guidelines as per the criteria issued by the Supreme Court on April 26.

The Supreme Court has directed that five percent of the EVM units in an assembly constituency within a parliamentary constituency should be allowed to be checked in this way. The total number of EVMs used in a constituency is 400 Ballot Units, 200 Control Units and 200 VV Pats. Calculating five percent of this, 20 ballot units, 10 control units and 10 VV pats can be checked.
