The Lok Sabha election date will be announced today. Election Commission’s press conference will be held at 3 pm. Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh assembly election date may also be announced today.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar will announce the Lok Sabha election dates at a press conference today at 3 pm. Similar to the elections in 2014 and 2019, polling will be conducted in a phased manner starting from April and ending in May. The members of the commission have completed their tour of all the states to assess the preparations related to the election. It is indicated that the announcement of the assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir may also be made today. This is the first Lok Sabha election to be held in Jammu and Kashmir after the cancellation of the special status.

Assembly elections for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will also be announced today. Assembly elections will be held in 175 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 60 seats in Arunachal, 147 seats in Odisha and 32 seats in Sikkim. Elections will be held for 543 Lok Sabha seats. BJP has already announced its candidates for 267 constituencies, while Congress has released the list of candidates for 82 constituencies. 96 crore 88 lakh voters will register their right to vote in the country this time.
