The world’s longest Atal tunnel is all set to open. At an altitude of about 10,000 feet above sea level, the tunnel is expected to create more jobs. It is also estimated that it will contribute to tourism and thereby the development of the region. The Atal Tunnel at Lahaul Spiti in Rohtang, Himachal Pradesh will be opened to traffic. With the use of this route, the travel distance between Manali and Leh will be reduced by 46 km.

Travel time can be saved up to seven hours. This will significantly reduce the cost of fuel for the long journey. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over the Atal tunnel to the nation by the end of September. Fire hydrants are installed every 60 meters. Telephone facilities are installed every 150 meters in the tunnel. There are also systems to ensure the availability of fresh air at every kilometer interval. There are emergency exit lanes every 500 meters. The tunnel was built by the Border Road Organization at a distance of 9 km.
