A house is ready for Smriti Irani in Amethi, Housewarming ceremony to be held on feb 22

Lucknow: While Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has officially moved out of her parliamentary seat Rae Bareli, BJP MP and Union Minister Smriti Irani is all set to settle in neighboring Amethi as a resident. Irani, who defeated Congress’s Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has built a house of her own in Gauriganj and is all set to make a grand ‘housewarming ceremony’ on February 22.

Sources say Smriti has sent out around 25,000 invitations, including local MLAs, for the ceremony.
A spacious single-storey house built on an area of around 15,000 square feet in Medan Mawai village is barely 2 km from the local BJP office on Sultanpur Road. Smriti Irani’s wish was to return home after the Prana Pratishtha in Ayodhya. Images of Lord Rama and Hanuman are inscribed on the outer wall of the house.

BJP’s Amethi spokesperson Govind Chauhan said that Irani has fulfilled his promise to the people of Amethi during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections that he would build a house in Amethi and settle down as a local resident. When Smriti Irani came to Amethi to contest for the first time, the Congress said that she was not a local. For the past five years, Smriti has worked from Amethi to Amethi. As soon as she enters the house, Congress’ campaign of being an outsider will stop and locals will loudly proclaim that Smriti Irani belongs to Amethi, Ramprasad Mishra said.
