New Delhi: Punjab and Delhi are the two states where the Aam Aadmi Party is in power in the country. While it lost power in Delhi after losing the assembly elections, the rebel movement in Punjab is posing a threat to Aam Aadmi Party’s power.
The Congress is trying to create divisions in the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab to seize power. The Congress has already started making moves to bring MLAs who are opposed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to its camp. Meanwhile, AAP is trying to avoid losing control in Punjab, the only state where the party is in power. National convener Arvind Kejriwal has called a meeting of all the legislators of Punjab tomorrow. Kejriwal has instructed that all the ministers should be present in the meeting.
Congress leaders in Punjab claim to be close to about 30 AAP MLAs. It is against this backdrop that AAP is holding a meeting in a hurry. The political discussion was triggered by Opposition Leader Pratap Singh Bajwa’s statement yesterday that there will be a split in AAP in Punjab and a change in the government. AAP came to power with 92 seats in the 2022 elections. Congress could win only 18 seats.
