Arvind Kejriwal arrest is legal, will remain in jail ; High Court

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in a case related to the liquor policy scam is legal, the High Court said. The judgment of the bench of Delhi High Court Justice Swarkantha Sharma was on a petition filed by Arvind Kejriwal questioning the arrest of the Enforcement Directorate.

The court said that there is evidence of Kejriwal’s conspiracy. There is no error in recording the statement of the apologetic witness. The court also said that it does not interfere with the powers of the trial court.

Kejriwal had alleged that the arrest was illegal and the ED action was without evidence. But the finding of ED is that Kejriwal is the mastermind of the corruption and the Aam Aadmi Party is the beneficiary of the corruption.

Kejriwal is currently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail. On 21st of last month, Kejriwal was arrested in the liquor scam case. The government orders issued by Kejriwal while in custody have created controversy. A protest march was also held in Delhi under the leadership of opposition parties to protest the arrest of Kejriwal.
