Arvind Kejriwal withdraws petition from Supreme Court against ED arrest

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has withdrawn his petition in the Supreme Court after he was arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. E.D. Kejriwal’s lawyer withdrew the plea as he was to be produced in court shortly.

Earlier, B.R.S. was arrested in the liquor case. The Supreme Court did not consider the bail plea filed by leader Kavitha. The court had directed to approach the trial court instead of directly approaching the Supreme Court for bail. ED filed a writ petition filed by Arvind Kejriwal in the Supreme Court. The demand in the petition is that the decision should not be taken without hearing the ED’s side. After this, Kejriwal withdrew his petition.

ED will move the trial court to remand Kejriwal. The Singhvi court clarified that the petition is being withdrawn to avoid the difficulty of considering that petition and the petition in the Supreme Court. He also informed Justice Sanjeev Khanna that he would soon hand over the professional letter withdrawing the petition.

The decision to withdraw the petition is also taking into consideration the possibility that the Supreme Court may say that even if the demand is raised, the High Court or the trial court may be approached.
