New Delhi: Rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who has gained notoriety as a self-proclaimed godman, has been granted parole again. He was secretly released from jail in the wee hours of yesterday for a 20-day parole.
Gurmeet, who was released from jail, has reportedly moved to the Dera Ashram in Sirsa, Haryana. Gurmeet, who was jailed in 2017 in a rape case, is out of jail on parole for the 12th time. Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the godman, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2017 for raping two of his female followers.
Gurmeet is lodged in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak district of Haryana. Ram Rahim was last granted parole for 20 days on October 2, 2024. Gurmeet was barred from participating in activities related to the Haryana Assembly elections, making speeches, and staying in Haryana during the parole period.
