Bangladesh Government Sends Letter to India Demanding Sheikh Hasina’s Release

New Delhi: The interim government of Bangladesh has sent a diplomatic note to India requesting the extradition of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The letter states that Hasina needs to face legal proceedings in Bangladesh, according to interim government foreign affairs advisor Tawhid Hussain, who spoke to the media.

Sheikh Hasina has been residing in India since August 5, after losing power due to a popular uprising. The diplomatic note mentions Bangladesh’s intention to bring her back for court trials. However, India has not yet confirmed its stance on the matter.

This is the first time Bangladesh has officially requested Hasina’s extradition. Following her departure from the country, 51 cases have been registered against her in various police stations.
